Kendall Dartez talks about the Derby Classic

ITV caught up with one of the numerous Cardinal basketball players in attendance at the Derek Anderson Kentucky Derby Festival Classic following the game. Kendall Dartez shares his thoughts on Brandon Jenkins, Mohamed Abukar and Michael Bush

Cardinal basketball players Kendall Dartez, Larry O'Bannon and Francisco Garcia took in the action at the Derek Anderson Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic on Saturday night. The trio sat at mid-court, about 10 rows off the floor, and watched as future teammate Brandon Jenkins recorded a double-double and future football Cardinal Michael Bush took home the MVP for the Purple squad. They also kept their eyes on current prospect Mohamed Abukar, who won both the 3-point and dunk contests.

I visited with Dartez following the game to get his opinion on the players of interest.

ITV: What did you think of the game tonight?

Dartez: It was exciting to watch.

ITV: What's your opinion about Mohamed Aubkar?

(ITV)
Dartez: I enjoy watching watching him play. He's a pretty good player and plays the way I like to. I know we are trying to get him to come [to Louisville]. The fans did a good job of showing that tonight.

ITV: Is this the first time that you've seen Brandon Jenkins play?

Dartez: Yes it was. I like his game. He's quick out there and is good with the ball. He probably needs to get a little bit stronger, but he's good.

ITV: After his performance tonight, are you going to try to talk Michael Bush into playing basketball as well?

Dartez: Yeah, he's pretty good. We could use everybody we can get like that. He would help make us compete in practice even harder. He'd fit right in with all of us. I'd like to get him here too.

ITV: How's the off season going for you?

Dartez: I'm lifting weights and working on my jumper a lot. Trying to stronger for next season.
