Snider working hard to bulk up

Quentin Snider, who attended Louisville's Red White scrimmage, has been hitting the weight room hard to bulk up his lean frame since committing to Rick Pitino's program in August.

Quentin Snider, a standout sophomore point guard at Louisville Ballard, has been working hard to bulk up his lean frame since committing to Rick Pitino's program in August.

A long, lanky guard, Pitino wants Snider to bulk up to 185-pounds by the time he enrolls at UofL. When he committed to Louisville two months ago, the 6'1 Snider weighed 148 pounds. Now, Snider is up to 156 pounds and has taken Pitino's directive to add weight to heart.

"He's up to 156 pound in two months," Scott Snider said. "He's been working his butt off, eating four big meals a day and taking protein bars to school. He's been lifting weights six days a week. The only day he doesn't lift is on Saturday. He does a weight lifting class every day at Ballard. He's increased his bench by 30 pounds in two months."

The added strength should help Snider have a big sophomore season for the Bruins.

"I feel like I'm a lot stronger. The added strength is going to help me get around defenders and move my feet better on defense," said Snider. "I feel like my ball handling and shooting got better and my defense."

Snider and his parents attended Louisville's Red White scrimmage last week. The future UofL guard enjoyed the experience.

"I like it a lot. It was a fun experience and I liked seeing them play and running up and down the court," said Snider. "Peyton Siva was being a leader on the court and telling the team what to do. The atmosphere and the fans cheering made me want to be on the court playing."
