Somerville (N.J.) Immaculata defensive end and Auburn commit Tashawn Bower was arguably the top defensive end at The Opening. Bower showed a perfect combination of speed and power en route to earning a fourth star and jumping up the Scout rankings.
“It was cool, I got to meet some of my new teammates like Carl Lawson, I also talked on the phone with Dee Liner,” said Bower. “It’s been great meeting new people and nice to be at the Nike headquarters, it’s a blessing to be here, a lot of kids can’t do this.”
Bower got his college decision out of the way early, pledging to Auburn after an unofficial visit.
“Once I got there I was like wow, this is the place,” said Bower. “It had everything on my check list and more, I felt comfortable with the coaches and players.”
While the 6’5” 235lbs prospect is sold on Auburn, he wasn’t quite ready to play the role of recruiter for Auburn.
“It’s cool just hanging with guys form the other schools, but not really recruiting (laugh),” said Bower.
Even though he wasn’t ready to recruit, it seems unlikely other players had any luck swaying Bower, who shaved an Auburn logo into his hair on Saturday.
“I am shutting it down, no more visits,” said Bower. “I am definitely taking an official visit to Auburn and I am going to talk to coach about taking some other visits just to go somewhere nice.”
