From the locker room: U of L beats FIU

MIAMI - The University of Louisville football team hung on for a 28-21 win over Florida International on Saturday. The Cardinals are now 4-0 on the season. Here are some quotes from the locker room:

CHARLIE STRONG, Louisville HEAD COACH: "We just didn't play smart and we didn't execute at all some of the times. We're just happy to get out of here with a win. FIU played really well tonight. What's amazing is that we were able to finish. Last week, we weren't able to finish the game, but we finished the game."

STRONG: "In the second half, we were able to get bodies on the blockers (in the running game). It was all about toughness. The second half, we were able to establish ourselves on the line of scrimmage."

STRONG: "We don't take any game lightly. We just weren't playing well in the first half. I told them we have 30 minutes, lets go play well in the second half. Let's go play."

Andrell Smith, LOUISVILLE WIDE RECEIVER: "This was an emotional game for a lot of us. We were not only playing for ourselves and our team but for our families and friends and where we came from."

Teddy Bridgewater, LOUISVILLE QUARTERBACK: "The win means a lot for this program. We are 4-0 now, so we're happy with the win. It was very difficult. FIU came out today play on both sides of the ball and in the kicking game. We just have to learn from this game and continue to move on."

BRIDGEWATER: "I felt like I played good, but we left some plays on the field. We have to seize every opportunity and we didn't."

Shawn Watson, LOUISVILLE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: "We ran lead football in the second half. It was pretty easy to see they were trying to keep pressure on our run game with the blitz. We picked it up and got some nice runs and that helped us get some nice rhythm going."

Calvin Pryor, LOUISVILLE SAFETY: "The fact still remains that we are 4-0. We just have to keep getting better and get ready to go to Southern Miss and take on them. It's just a lot of little things."

Brandon Dunn, LOUISVILLE DEFENSIVE LINEMAN: "(Defense) is coming on. Our coaches and we expect us to be more dominating right now and we're not getting that, so we're a little rattled right now. But we have to understand we are 4-0 right now. We show flashes of being a good defense. It's hard for us now because we expect so much from ourselves, we just have to find it."
