Oregon 6-A Player of the Year visiting Cards

Posted Oct 25, 2012

The University of Louisville women’s basketball program has a huge recruiting weekend on tap, including the reigning Class 6-A Oregon state Player of the Year. Jordan Reynolds is one of the top guards in the country and will arrive in Louisville on Thursday with three other prospects.

The state of Oregon is loaded with talented women’s basketball prospects and one of those is elite guard Jordan Reynolds.

The 5-foot-11 Reynolds is ranked as one of the top 50 players nationally and was the Class 6-A Player of the Year last season in Oregon.

On Thursday night, Reynolds will be among a group of four elite-level prospects arriving for an official visit to the University of Louisville. Reynolds made a visit to Tennessee last weekend and is also looking at Southern Cal, Duke and Miami.

Reynolds, who was invited to tryout for the USA Basketball U-16 national team last summer, is an AAU teammate of No. 1 player in the country Mercedes Russell on Team Concept Heat. Russell will also visit U of L this weekend.

Reynolds is one of the bigger names in the Class of 2013 on the West Coast because of her elite-level athleticism and ability to create with the ball in her hands.

As a sophomore, Reynolds starred for Class 5-A Jefferson High School before transferring to Portland, Ore., Central Catholic for her junior season.

Reynolds averaged 18.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.9 steals a game for Central Catholic and earned 6-A Player of the Year. The Oregonian newspaper noted her play was “some of the best all-around basketball the city has seen in years.” She averaged 21.5 points a game in the final 13 games.

Central Catholic lost in the state semifinals to eventual champion South Medford and is expected to be one of the top teams in the state this season.

"We told her, 'You've got to be a little more selfish,'" Central Catholic coach Sandy Dickerson told The Oregonian. “She went, 'Oh, it's OK for me to also do what I do.' And that's when we really started taking off.”
