Upset City: Syracuse Stuns Louisville

Senior WR Alec Lemon

Syracuse pulled off a huge upset as the Orange moved to within one win of becoming bowl eligible. Syracuse stunned the Cardinals 45-26.

Syracuse came out on fire as the Orange took a 10-3 lead on a Prince Tyson-Gulley touchdown run after the much maligned punt coverage team recovered a Louisville fumble. The Cardinals responded with a 53-yard screen pass from Teddy Bridgewater to Corvin Lamb

But Syracuse scored 21 unanswered points in the second quarter. Ryan Nassib hit Alec Lemon for two touchdowns, and Gulley ran for 55-yards for the third touchdown of the quarter. The Orange took a commanding 31-13 lead into halftime.

Syracuse came out strong in the third stopping Louisville, and then getting a long touchdown run from Jerome Smith who went over 100 yards for the fourth straight game. Nassib hit backup linebacker Lewellyn Coker in the fourth quarter for his third touchdown pass of the game.

The Orange upset the Cardinals 45-26 on senior night.

In the game, Nassib moved into 1st place in Big East history in career completions, and 2nd in Syracuse history in career passing yards.
