Penn State impresses Officer

Alex Officer

Alex Officer wanted to wait until the Holidays to get into his recruitment, and he is hitting the ground running. The latest stop for New York's top offensive lineman was Happy Valley over the weekend.

Admittedly down to considering only a few schools at this point, it was a slight surprise to learn that Alex Officer had taken an unofficial visit to a school that has always been in and out of the mix for him on Saturday.

"I visited Penn State last weekend," he said. "But they didn't offer."

Despite not earning that free ride, the Rochester (N.Y.) Eastridge standout offensive lineman was pleased with what he saw on Saturday as the Nittany Lions took on Indiana.

"The visit went great," said Officer. "I was there all day Saturday on an unofficial visit. I met with coaches and players. I saw the campus and saw them destroy Indiana."

After the win, the 6-foot-4, 310-pounder got the chance to build on his relationship with the PSU staff.

"Coach [Stan] Hixon and the O-line coach (Mac McWhorter)," Officer said of who he was talking to. "I met with a bunch of players in the locker room. They said they are very interested in me. They seem like they're close to offering."

The goal for Officer is to get that next extension, and it could be big for Penn State if the staff decides to do so considering his feeling with the program after the trip.

"They have some of the best fans in the country," Officer added. "They are always loud and they love their football team. Their student section is awesome."

"I like them a lot. I'm not really ranking teams right now, but I'm considering them with Pitt, Louisville, Syracuse, and others."
