Cox Back On Board

It has been a winding road for WR James Cox that has led him back to Hattiesburg and Southern Miss. The Tuscaloosa, AL, WR has made it official today that he is committing to Southern Miss. Here is the story and interview with the talented wide-out.

James Cox is back on board.

The talented wide receiver that committed back in the summer decommitted when Coach Johnson and staff was let go. Now, he's back, and all it took was a weekend with new Coach Todd Monken.

"Man, when I was back there this weekend, and hearing Coach Monken talk to me and how he wants to use me, it was obvious to me that this is where I needed to be," he said.

"I am so excited to be back. Southern Miss really just is the right place for me."

Cox said the conversations with Coach Monken and how he wanted to use him really made the difference.

"He talked about how they wanted to use me and all the plans they had for me in this offense," he said. "They want to use me on the outside, in the slot, in screens and deep as well.

"I am ready to take my game to the next level and Southern Miss is where I can do that."

Cox also loved the academic program Southern miss can provide.

"I enjoyed the time we spent in the new business building and loved that program," he said. "Southern Miss has it all for me, and I'm ready to get there and make an impact and help turn this thing around."

Cox said he had a conversation with his parents, and upon talking with them it all made sense to him. He becomes the first commitment to Southern Miss under Todd Monken.
