USF announces Robert Weiner as new WR coach

USF head coach Willie Taggart has announced the hiring of Robert Weiner as the Bulls new wide receivers coach on Sunday. As Head Coach at Plant, the ultra succesfull Weiner took the Panthers to eight playoff berths, five state finals and won four state titles.

TAMPA - The University of South Florida has hired Robert Weiner to serve as wide

receivers coach, head coach Willie Taggart announced on Sunday. Weiner joins the

USF staff after serving as the head coach at Plant High School in Tampa for nine

seasons.

A 1983 Tampa Jesuit graduate, Weiner compiled a 102-19 record at Plant, which

included eight playoff berths, four state titles and five state finals

appearances. The Panthers currently hold a Hillsborough County-best streak of

eight-straight district titles. As a result of his success, Weiner was honored

by serving as the 'East' head coach in the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, an

annual all-star game that features some of the nation's top prep players.

Prior to his tenure at Plant, Weiner served as an assistant coach at Jesuit for

15 seasons and one year at Crystal River.
