Crayton: "It Just Felt Like Home"

Rod Crayton had offers from just about everyone in the southeast. As his recruiting took some turns, one school continued to pursue him and stood out above the rest. He talked about his decision to land with the Eagles and what made Southern Miss the place he wanted to spend his career.

Rod Crayton confirmed with today that he has committed to Southern Miss, and will be signing with the Eagles on Wednesday.

"I've liked Southern Miss for a long time, but it was on my visit that I knew that is where I wanted to be," he said in an interview today with

"Southern Miss just felt like home. That's all I can say."

His visit went well, and he actually committed to Southern Miss back on January 20th.

"I told the coaches I was done with recruiting and this Wednesday I'm going to sign with Southern Miss," he said. "The coaches were all real cool, and I think they give me the best chance to come in and have four good years and get to the NFL."

Crayton also said he hopes to return some swagger to the defense.

"I know they were called the Nasty Bunch, and I hope I can bring some of that back," he said.

"It was the one school that made me feel like I was back at home, and that was just what was most important to me."

Early playing time, Crayton Said, was not what was most important to him.

"It wasn't just about playing time," he said. "I am going to work hard to play, but it was about the place I felt most comfortable."

Crayton is a three star defensive tackle that could be the anchor of the class of 2013. He said he hopes this group will be the one to be the rebirth of the new day at Southern Miss. Recommended Stories
