University of Louisville junior guard Shoni Schimmel has earned a top postseason award from the Big East Conference again.
Schimmel, who is from Mission, Ore., was named a member of the Big East first-team All-Conference team for the second consecutive year.
Schimmel is the leading scorer for the U of L women’s team at 13.7 points a game and also leads the team with 112 assists and third with 51 steals.
Junior Antonita Slaughter, who is the third-leading scorer at 10.2 a game, was named to the second-team.
The BIG EAST Tournament begins on Friday in Hartford, Conn., with U of L receiving a bye into the quarterfinals as the No. 4 seed. The Cardinals will play on Sunday at noon in a game to be shown on ESPNU.
