Green (6-2) pitched eight innings of three-hit ball and allowed just one run as the Cardinals snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-1 decision over Georgetown in a Big East Conference game at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Green struck out five and Nick Burdi pitched the ninth inning and recorded his eighth save of the season for the Cardinals.
U of L (31-10, 9-4) had dropped the final two games of last weekend's series against St. John's and fell to No. 3 Vanderbilt on Tuesday night.
But against the Hoyas (23-16), the Cardinals scored early.
Coco Johnson hit a solo home run to left in the second inning and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, plating Zac Wasserman, in the third.
The Cardinals stranded 10 base runners in the game and that was all the offense they could manage, but Green and Burdi did the rest.
Louisville will play the Hoyas at noon on Saturday – an hour earlier than scheduled because of potential rain – and at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Cardinals will then host Western Kentucky on Tuesday night.
