U of L hoops offers two Georgia prep stars

Daniel Giddens

The University of Louisville basketball staff is still recruiting a bunch of players in the Class of 2014, but the staff has also started to focus on the Class of 2015. Two offers in that class recently went out to top prospects in Georgia.

The University of Louisville basketball staff has offered scholarships to a pair of the top prospects from the state of Georgia in the Class of 2015.

The national champion Cardinals offered Game Elite teammates Daniel Giddens and Jaylen Brown scholarships, according to AAU coach Ryan Falker.

Both players are elite '15 prospects and also teammates at Marietta, Ga., Wheeler High School.

The 6-foot-10, 220-pound Giddens also has offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Texas, Arizona and UCLA among others. He ranks as the No. 3 center prospect and the No. 7 player overall in the Scout.com '15 rankings.

"Daniel is the classic big man," Falker said. "He's long, athletic and runs like a deer. Defensively, Daniel is ahead of the game because he blocks shots and rebounds with the best of them. His offense is coming along.

"Right now, he's elite, elite, elite in the defensive end."

Giddens, who played on the Wheeler golf team last spring and ran the hurdles for the track team this spring, averaged six points and five blocked shots a game as a sophomore at Wheeler.

Brown is a 6-foot-7, 205-pound small forward with other offers from Georgia Tech, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina State.

"What is special about Jaylen is that he's growing like a weed now," Falker said. "He's till growing and he's so dynamic with the ball. He can do so many things.

"He rebounds well and is pushing the ball up the court and he'll dunk on you or pull up for a three. He scores on all three levels and is great with contact. Defensively, he's athletic and long and can guard the 1-4 positions."

U of L has also checked out a third member of the Game Elite team – 6-foot-5 '15 guard Damon Wilson, who plays at St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, N.J.
