It's one down and two to go for the Louisville baseball team.
The Cardinals need to win more games to advance out of the NCAA Tournament regional at Jim Patterson Stadium and the next game will be a tough one.
U of L (47-12) will play ACC power Miami (Fla.) (37-23) in the 5 o'clock winners' bracket game on Saturday night. Bowling Green State and Oklahoma State play in an elimination game at noon. The U of L game is on ESPN2.
"We're going to be in for a fight," U of L coach Dan McDonnell said. "We're going to have to do a great job all the way around.
"(Miami) is a great program with great history and great players."
Louisville has won 17 of its past 19 games and will start ace Jeff Thompson (10-1, 2.09 ERA), who was just named a second-team All-American and a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award as the nations top amateur player.
Thompson has allowed no runs in seven of 14 outings this season.
Miami is without coach Jim Morris, who is in the hospital in Durham, N.C., with pneumonia. The Hurricanes will throw left-hander Bryan Radziewski, who is 9-2 with a 1.49 ERA and has 101 strikeouts in 84.2 innings.
Radziewski was also named a second-team All-American.
The winner will move into the regional championship game to be played at 4 o'clock on Sunday. The losers will play the winner of the Oklahoma State-Bowling Green game on Sunday at noon in an elimination game.
Tickets are on sale at the stadium for $12 (chair backs) and $8 (general admission).
