U of L women's basketball recruiting targets

With already two commitments on the board for the Class of 2014, the University of Louisville women's basketball staff is still involved in the recruiting process with some top talent. Here are 10 prospects to keep an eye on.

The University of Louisville women's basketball staff is hot on the trail of some of the top prospects nationally in the Class of 2014. The Cardinals already have commitments from Sydney Brackemyre of Harveysburg, Ohio, and Ariana Freeman of Manassas, Va. Here are 10 top targets for the Cardinals as head coach Jeff Walz and his staff get ready to hit the recruiting trail next week:


Mariya Moore

The latest:
The 6-foot Moore was named Metro-Area Player of the Year by the San Francisco Chronicle after averaging 18.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 4.0 steals a game while leading her team to a 29-8 record. Salesian lost in the state final despite 35 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals from Moore.

Moore is also looking at Washington, UCLA, Kentucky and California. She averaged 16.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 3.9 steals as a sophomore after 17.2 points and 8.5 rebounds as a freshman.

Gabby Green

The latest:
The 6-foot-1 Green, who was selected to the USA Basketball U19 World Championship team, averaged 16.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.2 steals a game as a junior. She was named All-California second-team.

Green has dozens of offers and is expected to announce her list of school's she's narrowed the recruitment down to after USA Basketball in July.

The latest:
The 6-foot-1 Engram averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds and 3.6 steals and was named Marietta Daily Journal Girls' Player of the Year for the area. She helped her team to a 21-8 record and bid into the Class 6-A playoffs.

Engram is also looking at Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi, Auburn and LSU during her recruiting process.

Victoria Vivians

The latest:
The 6-foot Vivians was named Miss Basketball in Mississippi after a junior season that saw her average 39.7 points a game. Vivians also averaged 15.1 rebounds, 4.2 steals and 1.5 blocked shots a game. Her scoring mark was a state record. She helped Scott Central to the Class 2-A state title.

Vivians recently narrowed her list of schools to Louisville, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Florida. The first-team MaxPreps.com All-American plans on making a college decision this fall..

Jatarie White

The 6-foot-4 White was named North Carolina's state player of the year by both the Associated Press and Gatorade after averaging 19 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 1.8 steals and leading her school to the 3-A Independent Schools state title. She had 24 points and 12 rebounds in the state title game.

White recently made visits to U of L, Kentucky and Tennessee. She has also visited South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Miami, Clemson and Florida State and hopes to make a decision this fall.

DeKeiya Cohen

The 6-foot-1 Cohen averaged 26.7 points and 13 rebounds a game as a junior and was named to the South Carolina Class 4-A All-State team.

Cohen recently released her top six schools, which included U of L, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Notre Dame and South Carolina.

Myisha Hines-Allen

The 6-foot-2 Hines-Allen is a multi-dimensional player who can play any position on the floor at the college level.

Hines-Allen has dozens of offers, including U of L, Rutgers, California, Baylor, UCLA and Kentucky, and plans on narrowing the list next month.

Imani Tilford

The 5-foot-7 Tilford averaged 20.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 steals a game as a junior.

Tilford is also looking at Memphis, Providence, Seton Hall and several others.

Natalie Romeo

The latest:
The 5-foot-7 Romeo is considered a steady, heady guard who is a true floor general. She plays AAU ball with Mariya Moore with the Cal Stars. Romeo averaged 21.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 6.3 steals as a junior.

Romeo is considering U of L, Oregon State, Washington State, Gonzaga and UCLA as her options for college.

Kortney Dunbar

The latest:
The 6-foot-2 Dunbar is a sharpshooter from outside and was a teammate with current U of L freshman Emmonnie Henderson in high school. She averaged 14.6 points a game for Edwardsville.

Dunbar was at team camp last weekend at Louisville and is also considering Purdue and Oklahoma.
