Gorgui Dieng

Former University of Louisville center Gorgui Dieng had his name called in the first round of the NBA Draft on Thursday night. Dieng was the 21st pick of the draft by the Utah Jazz, but he's headed to the Minnesota Timberwolves after a trade.

The Utah Jazz drafted University of Louisville center Gorgui Dieng with the 21st overall pick in the first round of the NBA draft on Thursday night.

But the 6-foot-11 Dieng is headed to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a trade between the two teams that was confirmed later in the draft.

Dieng and No. 14 pick Shabazz Muhammad were traded to the Timberwolves - by the Jazz - for the No. 9 pick - Trey Burke.

"It feels great," Dieng said. "I am so excited and can't wait to get to Minnesota and meet my teammates. I am excited."

Dieng averaged 9.8 points and 2.5 blocks for the Cardinals last season and helped U of L to the school's third national title.
