Former University of Kentucky point guard Wayne Turner has joined the men's basketball staff at the University of Louisville as a program assistant.

Louisville coach Rick Pitino, who coached Turner at UK, announced the addition to his staff on Tuesday.

Turner, who played in three Final Fours while at UK and won a pair of national titles, will have several duties at U of L.

His primary duties with the Cardinals include assisting in opponent scouting through extensive video breakdowns, game preparation and assisting in on-campus recruting efforts.

"He'll be living with our players in Billy Minardi Hall this year, mentoring them off the court," Pitino said. "There's no better person to do that as he played in three straight Final Fours and won two national championships."

Turner played two year at UK under Pitino, helping the Wildcats to the 1996 NCAA Championship. He was also part of the '98 title team under Tubby Smith and left the UK program as the all-time leader in games played at 151.

Turner played nine years of professional basketball, including one with the Boston Celtics, one with the Harlem Globetrotters and seven with multiple CBA and European teams.

He was on the Kentucky men's basketball staff in 2010-11 and has worked the past two years in player development.
