JUCO G expected tomorrow for U of L women

The University of Louisville women's basketball team posted the new season roster on the school's website this week. The Cardinals will have one addition to that roster tomorrow, while an expected player isn't with the team anymore. Cardinal Authority has the details.

The University of Louisville women's basketball program raised some eyebrows this week when posting the new roster for this season on the website.

The roster was without two of the expected newcomers with freshman Emmonnie Henderson listed as No. 32 and the only newcomer on the team.

Cardinal Authority has learned another newcomer – Starr Breedlove – will be traveling to Louisville on Friday and will enroll in classes.

The 5-foot-6 Breedlove, a guard who is a native of Teaneck, N.J., was waiting on some paperwork issues to be cleared up before she could enroll.

Breedlove spent a season two years ago at Trinity Valley Community College where she averaged 9.4 points, 6.3 assists and 4.4 rebounds a game and helped the team to the NJCAA title. She did not play last season, attending ASA College in Brooklyn to work on her academics.

While Breedlove is ready to join the team, junior-college guard Janelle Cannon has already left the program. The 5-foot-9 Cannon led the nation among Division I Junior College players in scoring at 25.4 points a game last season at SW Illinois College but only spent a couple of days on the team before leaving.

U of L returns seven players who played a key roll on the NCAA runner-up team last season, plus Tia Gibbs, Asia Taylor and Shawnta' Dyer, who were injured last season and expected to return.

Guard Monny Niamke will also contribute after sitting out last season.
