It wasn't a thing of beauty but it was a victory for the University of Louisville football team.
The Cardinals outgained Eastern Kentucky 475-206 despite a few stalls on offense and rolled to a 2-0 record with a 44-7 decision.
Teddy Bridgewater said he was "average" but still completed 23 of 32 passes for 398 yards and four touchdowns in the contest.
"We didn't play our best," center Jake Smith said. "But a win like this would have been like Christmas two years ago. We didn't score 40 points in a game all of last season."
U of L (2-0) rushed the ball 28 times for just 88 yards, while nine different receivers hauled in passes from Bridgewater.
Junior DeVante Parker had five catches for 134 yards and two TDs and is now third all-time in school history with 19 career TD catches.
Tight end Gerald Christian also had five catches for 74 yards and his first TD as a Cardinal. Robert Clark had four catches for 24 yards, while Damian Copeland had a TD catch.
Linebacker Preston Brown led the defense with eight tackles, while Calvin Pryor had seven and an interception. James Burgess had a fumble recovery and seven tackles, while Lorenzo Mauldin had five tackles and two forced fumbles.
