With less than a month until the fall national signing day, University of Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz has a class stocked with talent.
Now, the class has one more commitment.
Long Beach, Calif., Poly High School guard Arica Carter became the fifth commitment in the Class of 2014 over the weekend when she gave Walz and his staff a commitment after an official visit.
The 5-foot-8 Carter is ranked as the No. 62 prospect in the country by ProspectNations.com, checks in at No. 66 in the All-Star Girls Report and No. 78 by ESPN's Hoopgurlz.com rankings.
As a junior, Carter led Poly in scoring at 11 points, 3.9 assists and 3.5 rebounds, while also helping the Jackrabbits to its fifth CIF State Division 1 championship in the last eight years.
The addition of Carter puts the U of L class firmly in the top five among recruiting classes by every major media outlet.
U of L also has commitments from Montclair, N.J., wing Myisha Hines-Allen, Clinton-Massie, Ohio wing Sydney Brackemyre, Salesian, Calif., wing Mariya Moore and Virginia wing Ariana Freeman.
Carter confirmed the commitment to Cardinal Authority. We will have an interview with the prospect later today.
