Russ Smith and Montrezl Harrell have been considered among the top players in the country by many national pundits.
Now, the two are being considered for the most prestigious national award - the John Wooden Award. Both were named among 50 players released on the watch list for the award.
The 6-foot Smith is a senior and considered an All-American by a number of media outlets. He had 21 points in Louisville's first game last weekend against the College of Charleston.
Harrell is a 6-8 sophomore who had 10 points and eight rebounds in the opener. Harrell helped Team USA to a gold medal in the FIBA U19 World Championship in Prague, Czech Republic last summer.
