No Teddy for Senior Day festivities at U of L

Teddy Bridgewater

The University of Louisville football team will say goodbye to 20 seniors on Saturday before the noon kickoff against Memphis. But U of L coach Charlie Strong said on Monday that junior Teddy Bridgewater won't go through the ceremony. Cardinal Authority was there and has the latest.

University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong said he hasn't had any conversations about the future with Teddy Bridgewater.

The junior quarterback is expected to be a top pick in the NFL Draft in April – if he turns pro – but Strong said Bridgewater won't go through Senior Day festivities with the 20 other seniors on the team.

"He still has another year," Strong said.

Strong said he's "not going to even talk about him and saying this is going to be his last game," because Bridgewater still has a decision to make.

"He's not concerned about that," Strong said. "The only thing he should be worried about is winning the game. I haven't had that discussion with him."

A former assistant coach at Florida, Strong pointed towards Tim Tebow and said "people do come back."

"If that's where his heart is, I'm not going to stop him," Strong said. "But people are different. I think it will take a lot for him to think about.

"But we haven't talked and when he does, he'll make the right decision."

While Bridgewater has stated several times this season that he hasn't thought about it, the Heisman Trophy candidate has hinted about returning on his twitter account. Strong said his close bond with former high school friend and teammates – Eli Rogers, Jermaine Reve, Corvin Lamb and Michaelee Harris – could be a factor.

"Teddy came in with a group of guys that he has grown up with," Strong said. "I don't know if there's separation there. I don't know if that will play a lot into his decision or not."

U of L will honor 20 seniors and Cardinal Authority will have something on each and every senior before kickoff.

The Cardinals play Memphis on Saturday at noon.
