U of L women roll over Wright State, 99-40

Senior Antonita Slaughter is out of the hospital and was on the bench watching her teammates with the University of Louisville women's team crush Wright State 99-40 on Saturday night. Seven players scored eight or more for the Cardinals.

Just four days after collapsing on the bench and two days after finding out her season was over, University of Louisville senior guard Antonita Slaughter was back om the bench watching her teammates on Saturday night.

And she had to smile with what she saw.

The Cardinals led 55-17 at halftime and cruhed Wright State 99-40 at the KFC Yum! Center to move to 9-1 on the season.

Schoni Schimmel led the No. 7 ranked Cardinals with 17 points, six assists and three assists on 5 of 9 from three-point range.

Sara Hammond and Asia Taylor scored 12 points apiece, while Cortnee Walton added nine points and 12 rebounds and Megan Deines also had nine points. Jude Schimmel finished with two points, nine assists, five rebounds and four steals.

U of L hit 41 of 73 (56.2 percent) from the field and held Wright State to 17 of 74 (23 percent). The Cardinals won the rebounding battle 57-36 and had 23 assists.

The Cardinals are now off until next Saturday night when they host Austin Peay.
