Has Jurich found his coach?

Bobby Petrino

The University of Louisville football coaching search moves into day three and after multiple candidate interviews, the momentum has shifted in the direction of one. Is Bobby's return a certainty? We will discuss tonight in a 9:00pm chat.

Tom Jurich is working overtime and it appears that he has found the Cardinals next head coach.

The University of Louisville athletic director is searching for a new football coach and has already interviewed at least seven candidates, according to multiple sources.

Among those interviewed, is current Western Kentucky head coach Bobby Petrino. Sources inform that Petrino, who coached at the University of Louisville from 2003-06, met with Tom Jurich on Tuesday.

Petrino, who compiled an impressive 41-9 record, including a BCS bowl victory in the 2006 Orange Bowl, is now believed to the heavy favorite for the Cardinals open position. Sources have told Cardinal Authority that the 52-year old Petrino will succeed Charlie Strong as Louisville's next head coach.

Sources also indicate that the University of Louisville Athletics Board of Trustees will meet on Thursday morning at 10:00a.m. to discuss and confirm the next head coach.

So, is Petrino's return to Louisville a forgone conclusion? That will be among the topics of discussion on Tuesday evening's Cardinal Authority chat.
