Signing day flip: Sturghill is a Card

The University of Louisville football staff pulled off a signing day coup, flipping Memphis Melrose wide receiver Cornelius Sturghill from Wisconsin. Sturghill has signed his letter-of-intent with the Cardinals.

Another nice late pickup for Bobby Petrino.

The new University of Louisville football coach flipped former Wisconsin pledge Cornelius Sturghill, a three-star wide receiver/defensive back.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Sturghill signed with the Cardinals.

Sturghill, a star from Memphis Melrose, also had offers from UCLA, Purdue, Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky among others.

After visiting U of L last weekend, Sturghill said he "saw everything I needed to see. We connected really well," he said of the staff.

He's the No. 115 ranked defensive back in the country, according to Scout.com, but will likely play wide receiver at U of L.
