Out for Spring
When the Cardinals do take the field, they will be without 11 players. The following players will sit out of spring practice for varying injuries.
Three mid-year enrollees will join the team for spring drills. A pair of three-star prospects, wide receiver Cameron Polk and running back L.J. Scott, along with four-star junior college linebacker Trevon Young will suit up with the returning Cardinals when practice begins.
The departure of Teddy Bridgewater, Damian Copeland, Marcus Smith, Calvin Pryor, Preston Brown and company will be difficult to overcome, but plenty of talent returns to ease the transition period this spring.
Louisville returns 7 starters on offense, including four that logged time on the front line. Also back is potential All-American reciever DeVante Parker and Domonique Brown, the team's leading rusher a year ago.
Seven starters will need to be replaced on defense, including both safety positions. Gerod Holliman and redshirt freshman Chucky Williams are expected to get the first look. Defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin's, who has 14.5 career sacks, return was significant for a defense that will also be adjusting to the 3-4 formation.
