Shoni Schimmel wins overall 3-point contest

University of Louisville senior All-American Shoni Schimmel won the NCAA Three-Point competition in Dallas on Thursday night. Schimmel won the women's competition and then beat men's champion Brady Heslip of Baylor to claim the overall title at the Final Four event.

Shoni Schimmel was at it again from long range on Thursday night in Dallas.

The University of Louisville senior All-American and career leader for three-point field goals won the Buick Women's Slam Dunk competition during the 26th annual competition in conjunction with the Final Four at SMU.

And then after beating the other women, Schimmel won the overall title by besting men's champion Baylor's Brady Heslip.

Schimmel beat Duke's Tricia Liston in the finals of the women's competition. She made 11 consecutive threes in the semifinal round and then hit her final eight shots for a 22-17 win over Liston in the finals.

Against Heslip, Schimmel hit her final six shots to win 20-17.

Schimmel finished her career with 388 three-pointers, just five off the NCAA all-time record.
