Cardinal Authority visits with former Cardinal, current Pittsburgh Steeler William Gay

A handful of former University of Louisville football standouts were on the sidelines for the Cardinals scrimmage on Saturday morning.

Among those taking in the action were Vic Anderson, William Gay, Bilal Powell and Marcus Smith.

Now an 8-year NFL veteran, William Gay played four years as a Cardinal under Bobby Petrino from 2003-06.

He was selected to the C-USA All-Freshman team as a rookie and capped his U of L career with a team-high 6 interceptions as a senior. He recorded an interception and 5 tackles in the Cardinals 24-13 win over ACC Champion Wake Forest in the 2006 Orange Bowl.

Gay has spent 7 of his 8 NFL seasons with the Steelers, having spent the 2012 campaign with the Arizona Cardinals. Last season, he totaled 55 tackles, with 1 sack. He also had one interception, returning it 21 yards for a touchdown.

Gay visited with Cardinal Authority and shared his thoughts on Petrino's return to Louisville, the Cardinal's play this spring and more.
