Starr Breedlove

5-6, So., Guard

Teaneck, N.J.

Averages: Injured much of the season, Breedlove only played in nine games and a total of 43 minutes. She averaged 1.1 points per game.

Overview: It was a tough transition year for Breedlove, who played two years ago at Trinity Valley Community College and helped lead them to the NJCAA championship. But she sat out a year, going to a junior college for academics. She then came to Louisville and had a solid preseason before suffering a concussion. Breedlove missed the first 26 games because of that concussion and then returned late in the season, playing in nine of the final 12 games. She was 3 of 4 from the field and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line, grabbing four rebounds and dishing out three assists with six turnovers in 43 total minutes.

Best game: In a late-season game against Houston, Breedlove played 11 minutes and hit both of his field-goal attempts and also grabbed a rebound.

Projected future: There will be minutes to have if Breedlove can step up her game this offseason and make some strides. She averaged 9.5 points and 6.4 assists on the nations best JUCO team two years ago and needs to get back to the consistent effort, along with being healthy next season. Breedlove showed some flashes but just needs to keep working on her skills.

Quotable: "This (loss) shows us a lot of motivation on how hard get to this point and where the seniors did to help us get there. We have to continue to work hard. I have to buy into the system and work so hard whole summer."

Fun fact: She did not play with a team the year before enrolling at U of L, instead attending ASA College at home, while working out with her father.

Bottom line: It's all up to Breedlove and her work ethic in the offseason. She can earn some minutes with a consistent effort and a show of hard work. Breedlove is very talented but lost a step this season because of her injury.
