The University of Louisville baseball team responded to a tough week last week with five in a row, including a 6-1 win over Connecticut on Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Jared Ruxer (7-1) and Drew Harrington both had solid outings on the mound as the Cardinals won the second game of the series.
U of L moved to 32-11 on the season.
Ruxer had his fifth straight quality start, working six plus innings and allowing just five hits and one run with five strikeouts.
After Jonah Philley retired the only batter he faced, freshman Drew Harrington came in and worked two and two-thirds of scoreless ball.
Outfielder Cole Sturgeon was 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI, hitting his fifth triple of the season. Freshman outfielder Corey Ray was 2-for-4 with a triple, one RBI and one run scored in his second career start, while junior second baseman Zach Lucas went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.
The two teams will play the final game of the series on Sunday at 1 p.m., while the Cardinals will then face Ohio State on Wednesday.
