The 6-foot-7 Smith liked the Cardinals and has always had them high on his list.
On Tuesday night, Smith officially picked up a scholarship offer from the Cardinals and said he now for sure has to take "a long look" at U of L before making any decisions.
"It's Louisville and they have a great program," Smith said. "Coach Pitino is one of the greatest coaches in basketball.
"It's another place that I think I could possibly see myself calling home. I'll have to look but I think it's a place that could be the right fit for me."
U of L, UCLA and Arizona are among the schools recruiting Smith the hardest, while he also has offers from UNLV, Oregon and Texas among others. He's ranked as the No. 29 player in the Class of 2015 by Scout.com and checks in as the No. 6 small forward in the class.
Smith was seen last weekend by U of L coach Rick Pitino and Jones at the adidas Gauntlet event playing with Dream Vision.
"I like running the floor and I like playing defense," he said. "I'm a tall guard and those are the things coach Pitino said he liked about me. He said he liked me as a tall guard.
"I had a great conversation with him (Tuesday) and he told me all about Louisville. I just have to see what is the right fit for me."
Smith said he has plans to visit Georgetown sometime next month and wants to get to see some other schools but didn't have anything set up.
But he has an idea when he wants to make a decision for his college choice.
"I want to be signed before my high school season starts," he said. "I don't know when I will be ready to commit, but I want to sign early and focus on my senior season."
