Five questions: Hoops target Ray Smith

Ray Smith

A new feature at Cardinal Authority will be sitting down with recruiting prospects for a Q&A session. Here we sit down with 2015 basketball target Ray Smith of Las Vegas High School.

Las Vegas High School forward Ray Smith has narrowed his recruiting list to 10 schools.

The 6-foot-8 Smith, who is ranked as the No. 29 player in the Class of 2015, is looking at his list to Arizona, Arizona State, California, Georgetown, Louisville, Oregon, Texas, UCLA, USC and Wake Forest.

Cardinal Authority sat down with Smith for a five questions interview:

Cardinal Authority: It seems like your game keeps getting better. What are you trying to work on this spring and summer?

Smith: "Everything. Really, just working on everything. There's not really one focus. There's a focus a day, but there's never a focus on a month or a year. One day we go ballhandling, the next day we go strength and then something else. It's everything."

CA: Is strength a big thing for you? Will that take your game to the next level?

Smith: "Right now, I am doing a lot of pushups and once this summer is over I will get on the weights more to try and change my body. I'm not really starting to focus now on that."

CA: You have seen others get the recruiting attention and now that's you. What's it feel like to get the attention and how do you not let it hinder your progress?

Smith: "I don't. My father always seems to put me back in place if I do step out of place. I never really get too big headed."

CA: Best thing after your game and do you model it after somebody?

Smith: "Explosive. And yes, Paul George. For sure, Paul George. The dude is a freak of nature, he really is."

CA: You have narrowed your list to 10 schools. Will you try to get to all 10 schools before you make a decision?

Smith: "I will try definitely. I am going a few places and some places are closer than the others. I will try to get to them all but I don't know when we will."
