Following an impressive performance in Saturday's closed scrimmage, junior Stefan LeFors was named the starting quarterback on Sunday. Stefan visited with the media following Sunday's practice and commented on the announcment.

During Saturday's scrimmage Stefan LeFors was on the money all night, completing 15 of 18 in the first half for 270 yards and 3 touchdowns. On the night, LeFors completed 18 of 26 for 286 yards and 3 touchdowns with just one interception.

Head Coach Bobby Petrino informed the media following Sunday's practice that the junior quarterback would be the Cardinals starter this fall.

Following Sunday's practice LeFors, who was informed of the decision prior to Sunday's practice, visited with the media and commented on his being named the starting quarterback.

Q: Well, you’ve been named the starter, how does it feel?

LeFors: It feels real good. It kind of pays off for all the hard work I’ve put in for three years, sitting on the bench and watching everything from the sideline and now I finally get my shot and my time and it feels real good.

Q: Do you feel that your mobility was an advantage for you?

LeFors: Yeah, I think that and because I think I know the offense a little better and knowing what to do on the field and where to go with the football.

Q: You seemed to work really hard for this opportunity.

LeFors: I knew it wouldn’t be easy, with Justin Rascati and Michael Bush coming in. I knew that they weren’t just going to let me have it. I knew that they would work hard for it so I had to work even harder and stay one step ahead of them.

Q: How does it feel to be a new starter and you’ll do it against UK?

LeFors: I’m getting thrown in the fire, that’s for sure. It’s going to loud, there’s going to a lot of people there, it’s in their stadium, it’s a rivalry game and a lot is going to be on the line, so we just need to come out there and have a good game plan and I know we’re going to have that.

Q: How do you feel the team has responded to you?

LeFors: I think they know what I can do. I know that I trust them and I think they trust me back. We all get along and I think they except the challenge just like me.

Q: Do you feel that you have developed a communication with the receivers?

LeFors: I’ve been around those guys basically my whole time here. During the summer we are out here throwing on our own and we talk about things, like ‘why did you did this, I thought you would do this,’ and stuff like that and I think that helps.
