In what could be called a sneak peek, the new FieldTurf surface at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium appears complete to the unsuspecting eye.
The Nike Grind and sand mix, which is actually 50% completed, was cleaned up on Wednesday afternoon for an event being held at the stadium on Wednesday evening. The install crew will resume spreading the Nike Grind and sand mix following the event this evening and work late into the night.
Even at 50% completion the new playing surface nearly looks like a natural surface and when walking across it the FieldTurf surface feels like real grass.
The new surface is expected to be completed in time for the Friday's High School tripleheader at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, which will kick off at 3:00 p.m.
