Sebastian Telfair is a Cardinal!
In what seemed like the longest wait for the coveted point guard to announce his decision, University of Louisville fans have come to realize that good things certainly do come to those who wait.
According to Inside TheVille correspondent Carrie Beth Lasley, who is at the press conference at Lincoln High, Telfair, TheInsiders.com's #2 ranked point guard and #8 overall prospect in the nation, just announced that he'll lead Coach Pitino's University of Louisville basketball team in 2004-05.
Already a Big Apple icon and a cousin of NBA star Stephon Marbury, Telfair brings instant star power and national credibility and attention to Coach Pitino's rapidly ascending hoops program.
Known to friends as "Bassy," Telfair led Lincoln High School to the New York Federated Class A Title last spring and is possibly the most celebrated and hyped national prospect in University of Louisville basketball history.
Telfair becomes Louisville's fifth verbal commitment in the class of 2004, joining 6'9 Brian Johnson of Oak Hill Academy, 6'7 Donta Smith of Southeastern C.C., 6'10 Terrance Farley of Pleasure Ridge Park High School, and 6'5 Lorenzo Wade of Hargrave Academy.
And the Cards may not be done recruiting this year as 6'10 David Burgess of Irvine, CA still looms as a possibility in the front court.
Irregardless of Burgess' decision, the addition of Sebastian Telfair assures Coach Pitino's 2004 recruiting haul will be ranked among the nation's Top 5 classes across the board.
The wait is over. And Coach Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals have landed New York's "Big Apple," Sebastian Telfair!
