On Wednesday afternoon, Louisville Trinity quarterback Brian Brohm was named Kentucky's Mr. Football, receiving 18 of the possible 23 first place votes.

"That is such a great honor," Brohm told Inside theVille on Wednesday evening. "A lot of great players have been named Mr. Football and just to be mentioned along with them is such an honor."

Previous Mr. Football winners include current Cardinals Eric Shelton, Montrell Jones and Michael Bush, as well as current Cleveland Brown quarterback Tim Couch.

While the City of Louisville has only produced four Mr. Football's, the Brohm family has captured the award twice. Former Trinity, Louisville and NFL quarterback Jeff Brohm, who now serves as the Cardinals quarterback coach was selected for the award in 1988. It is the first time in the history of Mr. Football that the award has been presented to members of the same family.

"That's quite an accomplishment for our family," continued Brohm. "I don't know if it'll ever be done again."

Brohm, who has thrown for more 3,500 yards this season, has one last game left to play as a Trinity Shamrock. The 6'4, 200-pound First Team All-State quarterback will finish his Trinity career playing in a game that he has been apart of during his entire high school career.

On Saturday at 3:15 p.m. Trinity will face rival St. X at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium for the state championship, which Trinity has won the last two seasons.

"That's the way you dream it up," said Brohm. "We want to win our third straight. We'll definately be up for the game, even more because it's against our big rival. We get fired up when playing them no matter where or when."

As one of the top prospects in the country, Brohm continues to draw interest from numerous programs, but continues to list Louisville, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Kentucky as his favorites.

The Louisville coaches called Brian on Wednesday night to congratulate him on being named Mr. Football and he is expecting in-home visits from all of his favorites during the coming days.

With official visits to Notre Dame and Kentucky already completed, Brohm anticipates taking two more trips, to Louisville and Tennessee.
