Athlon Sports, publisher of America's Premier Sports Annuals released its preseason
Top 25 and the University of Louisville enters the poll at No. 8 and the favorite to
win the BIG EAST Conference in the school's first season in the league.
Senior offensive Travis Leffew, who has started 38 straight games for the Cardinals,
was named a preseason second-team All-American and First-Team All-BIG EAST.
Center Jason Spitz, senior defensive end Elvis Dumervil, linebacker Brandon Johnson,
and punt returner Montrell Jones, all of which are seniors, were named preseason
first team All-BIG EAST.
Sophomore quarterback Brian Brohm, Jones, senior wide receiver Joshua Tinch and
senior offensive tackle Jeremy Darveau were tabbed preseason second-Team All-Big
East.
Junior running back Michael Bush, junior offensive guard Kurt Quarterman, junior
defensive back William Gray and sophomore placekicker Arthur Carmody were named
preseason third-team All-BIG EAST.
The publication also ranks Louisville's running backs and offensive line No. 1 in
the BIG EAST, while Louisville's quarterbacks and wide receivers were rated No. 2 in
the league.
Magazines will hit newsstands on June 7. The Big East regional edition cover will
feature QB Brian Brohm.
