The 14th-ranked Cardinals continued fall camp on Tuesday morning, their last before dressing in full pads on Wednesday. Keeping with the theme, it was hot, humid and full of action as the coaches continue to focus on the details of each position.
"The early part of camp we always focus on fundamentals, techniques and doing things the right way," said assistant coach Tony Levine. "As we get closer to our first game we will work more on what are opponents will try to do to us, but right now everything is focused on the fundamentals. Coach Petrino has talked about it a bunch, but the voluntary workouts that our kids do in the summer have made a difference. To see the improvement that they have made from the spring game to now is remarkable."
The last two practices have ended with the newcomers participating in skellie action, giving the coaches extra time to evaluate the incoming class.
"It's been good, especially for some of these freshmen, because you don't really know what you have until they are here," Levine said.
