Despite a Thursday morning report in the Maryville (TN) Daily Times that ran with the headline 'Fiegler commits to Louisville,' the 6-foot-2, 190-pound quarterback told InsideTheVille.com that he has yet to make a verbal pledge to any program.
"They haven't offered yet," said Aloca High School's Joei Fiegler. "That article was blown way out of proportion. It's no secret that I like Louisville, but I also told him that I'm looking at some other schools."
Indiana, North Carolina State and Southern Miss round out the lefty's short list of favorites. He has scheduled an unofficial visit to Southern Miss for the program's season and Conference USA opener against Tulane on September 4th.
Fielger, the top-rated quarterback in Tennessee according to Scout.com, has made two unofficial visits to Louisville, including this past Saturday night for the Cardinals final open practice. Following the FanFest event, U of L assistant coach Tony Levine told the all-state performer that they'd like him to come to U of L.
"He told me to hang in there because they want me to be with them on signing day," he said shortly after his visit.
Fiegler, who completed 20-of-29 passes for 345 yards and two touchdowns in the Tennessee 2A State Championship last fall, will open the season against Hopkinsville (KY) High School in Integra Bowl at Trigg County (KY) High School on August 19th.
"It's a five hour ride for us, but I can't wait until we snap the ball," he said.
