Cards first to offer junior receiver

During a recent discussion with Alcoa (TN) High School quarterback Joei Fiegler, Inside The Ville learned that the Cardinal program recently extended a scholarship invitation to teammate and junior receiver Kyrus Lanxter.

Alcoa (TN) High School junior receiver Kyrus Lanxter helped his team win the Tennessee Class AA state championship last fall, hauling in 25 catches for 312 yards and 18 touchdowns.

"He's the real deal," said Alcoa quarterback Joei Fiegler of Lanxter. "He's quick and he has good hands."

Fiegler, who has made two unofficial visits to Louisville, said that his teammate chose to come along on his second trip.

"He went up to the camp with me," said Fiegler. "He did pretty good up there."

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound apparently drew the attention of the Louisville coaching staff early when he attended their camp this past spring.

"I went up to their one-day camp in June and I guess I did pretty good," Lanxter recently told InsideTheVille.com. "They told me that they liked me and that they were going to offer, but they couldn't until the start of September. I got the offer from them just a couple days ago."

He also added that a second offer could soon be coming. "I think Minnesota is about to offer too."

Four games into his junior campaign, Lanxter has recorded 7 catches for nearly 200 yards and 4 touchdowns.
