Louisville, which entered yesterday's home contest against Oregon State No. 10 in the USA Today/Coaches Top 25 poll, benefited from the impressive 63-27 win over visiting PAC-10 team and climbed two spots in the newest rankings.
The 8th-ranked Cardinals (2-0) leaped over Ohio State, which defeated San Diego State in Columbus, and Tennessee, which fell in Gainesville.
USC remained atop the poll and received 60 of 62 first place votes, while Texas, LSU, Virginia Tech and Florida round out the top five.
Georgia, Florida State, Louisville, Ohio State and Purdue make the remainder of the latest top 10.
Oklahoma, Clemson and Fresno State dropped from the rankings, while Michigan State, UCLA and Wisconsin climbed in. Fellow BIG EAST Conference member West Virginia used an impressive win at Maryland to climb to 3-0 and inch closer to the top 25.
In the latest Associated Press poll, USC, Texas, LSU, Virginia Tech and Florida make up the top five, while Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, Louisville and Tennessee round out the top ten.
