Brian Brohm was named the BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while Elvis Dumervil was the conference Defensive Player of the Week honors and Thandi Smith was the BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm and defensive end Elvis Dumervil and West Virginia's Thandi Smith received BIG EAST Conference weekly football honors on Monday. Brohm was named the BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while Dumervil earned conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. Smith received BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week accolades.

In a 69-14 win over North Carolina on Oct. 8, Brohm completed 17-of-22 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns. It was his third 300-yard passing game this season. Brohm leads the BIG EAST Conference in completion percentage (69.5), passing yards (1,522) and touchdowns (10). It is the second time this season that he has earned Offensive Player of the Week honors.

This is the third Defensive Player of the Week honor this season for Dumervil. In a 69-14 victory over North Carolina on Oct. 8, he registered seven tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception. For the season, Dumervil has 35 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, 15 sacks and seven forced fumbles. He leads the nation in sacks, tackles for loss and forced fumbles.

In West Virginia's 27-14 win at Rutgers on Oct. 8, Smith blocked a punt and returned it one yard for a touchdown to get the Mountaineer scoring started in the first quarter. It was the third blocked punt of his career. Smith, a defensive back, also recorded four tackles. The blocked punt was the first by a WVU player since Smith blocked a Syracuse punt in 2004. It was the first blocked punt returned for a touchdown by West Virginia since 2003 versus UCF.
