Despite having the weekend off, Bobby Petrino's Louisville Cardinals (5-2) have climbed back into the latest top 25

It's been a few weeks and it happened following an off weekend, but the Louisville Cardinals have returned to the national polls.

After beginning the season ranked among the nation's best - and rising to No.8 after a 2-0 start - before falling from the polls after it's triple-overtime loss at West Virginia, Louisville returned to the USA Today Coaches Poll at No. 25.

Fellow Big East Conference member West Virginia (6-1), whose only loss of the season came against No. 3 Virginia Tech, rose to No. 16 following an off weekend.

Future Big East foe Rutgers, whose 6-2 start is the program's best since 1979, also received votes in the latest rankings.

The Cardinals also returned to the Associated Press poll at No. 24. West Virginia is No. 18 in the lastest rankings, while Rutgers also received votes.

Louisville returns to action this Thursday when Pittsburgh (4-4, 3-1) visits sold out Papa John's Cardinal Stadium for the nationally televised contest.
