FSU pledge to visit Louisville

Despite his verbal commitment to Flordia State during the summer, lineman Zach Hillery of Winter Springs (Fla.) High School will make an official visit with the Cardinals in January

Big. That's the most often used word used to describe the lineman that the Louisville football program has received verbal commitments from for the 2006 recruiting class. Big, just may become bigger, if Louisville's efforts to persuade Zach Hillery of Winter Springs, Florida to join the impressive recruiting haul.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Hillery has flown under the radar for the majority of the recruiting season, but now the lineman, and part-time tight end, is in the process of scheduling official visits despite a verbal commitment to nearby Florida State during the summer.

"I'm going to visit Florida State, Louisville, Oklahoma and I'm thinking about going to Gainesville to visit Florida," said Hillery, who claims offers from those that he intends to visit. "I committed to Florida State over the phone during the summer, but I want to take my visits because I could change my mind."

While the All-District performer may change his college decision, he did say that the Seminoles remain the front-runner for his eventual services.

"Right now I'm still looking at Florida State the most," explained Hillery, who is also receiving attention from Ole Miss and South Florida.

Early playing time appears to be playing a factor in the final decision for the three-year starter.

"None of them have told me that they are going to redshirt me, so I hope to play as a freshman," explained Hillery, who runs a 4.9 40. "I'll probably play defensive tackle, but I could also play tight end in college."

Hillery will retake his SAT during the coming weeks with hopes of becoming fully eligible prior to national signing day.

"I'm doing pretty good in the class room," he said. "I just need to get 100 more points on my SAT and then I'll be set."
