University of Louisville junior quarterback Brian Brohm (Louisville, Ky.) underwent successful surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament of the right thumb at Jewish Hospital on Sunday morning.
Dr. Luis Scheker and Dr. Joseph Kutz performed the operation on Brohm's thumb at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
According to U of L team physician Dr. Raymond Shea, there was no fracture of the bone, but the ligament was torn off the bone and had to be surgically repaired. Shea said there was a firm and sturdy repair, and will be immobilized for the next two weeks before he can begin rehabilitation. Brohm's expected to miss the next 3-6 weeks.
The former Trinity High School product was 10-of-14 for 181 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game in the third quarter. He's thrown for 742 yards and three touchdowns this season.
