JC All-American lists five

Alex Cook

JC All-American defensive end Alex Cook totaled 6 tackles, including three for a loss, while helping Blinn (TX) C.C. win the SWJCFC Championship on Saturday. InsideTheVille.com has the latest on one of the Cardinals top defensive prospects.

Blinn (TX) C.C. claimed the Southwest Junior College Football Conference championship on Saturday afternoon, defeating 17th-ranked Kilgore 20-14 in overtime.

"It feels great," said Blinn C.C. defensive end Alex Cook. "It was a great game. We were down in the fourth quarter and the defense held. I had six tackles and three tackles for a loss in the game."

Cook, a Junior College All-American selection, has collected 53 tackles, including 10 for a loss and nine sacks for top-ranked Blinn C.C.

"When you are playing on team like this you almost expect to win championships," said Cook. "I hate losing."

Boasting of a 6-foot-3, 225-pound frame with 4.5 speed, the Florida native has become a priority target for a number of programs throughout the country.

"I have seven (scholarship offers)," said Cook. "Louisville, Southern Miss, Iowa State, Hawaii, Arkansas, UTEP and Oklahoma State."

Cook explained that he's also interested in Florida and hopes to narrow his list of options down to three after taking a few official visits throughout the winter.

"I've been focusing on practice and getting for our next game, but now I'm probably going to take some visits," said Cook. "I'm in the process of setting up visits now. I'll probably have them set up by the end of this week, but right now I don't know who I'll visit."

While he has yet to schedule an official visit, Cook said that five schools currently top his list.

"Iowa State, Louisville, Florida, Southern Miss and Hawaii," said Cook.
