Manual's Dave Ulinski impresses U of L staff
With many of his skill position teammates claiming titles in the Louisville and Male High 7 on 7 passing tournaments this spring, DuPont Manual lineman Dave Ulinski has kept just as busy preparing for his final year of high school ball. "We're lifting a lot as a team and I'm getting ready for our big man challenge," said the 6-foot-6, 290-pound Ulinski. "I also went to Louisville's camp last Sunday and I'm going to camp at Kentucky this weekend." Ulinski, a preseason Tremendous 26 selection, performed well in front of the Cardinals coaching staff last weekend. "It was a really nice camp," Ulinski said. "I think that I did pretty good. They offered me the next day, so they must have liked how I did." His intentions during his camps this month is to further prove that he's become a stronger and more athletic lineman prospect. "I'm trying to show them that I'm a different player then I used to be," Ulinski said. "I think I'm slimmer and can move quicker now." In addition to camp stops at Louisville and Kentucky, Ulinski has plans to trip south next month and reports a new interest from the Big 10. "I'm going down to Auburn in mid-July for their camp. The Purdue coaches have been talking to me a little lately too." While scholarship offers from both the Cardinals and Wildcats are now in hand, Ulinski explained that he's in no rush to make his college choice. "I'd like to do it my mid-season, but I'm not sure right now," he said. "I'll see how things go, but I'd like to have it done before the end of the season." One factor that will play a role in his eventual decision is his family ties to Kentucky. His grandfather, Harry Ulinski, was a standout center and linebacker for the Wildcats and his father started his college playing days at UK before finishing at Bellarmine College in Louisville. "I'm not sure how much of a factor that will be," Ulinski explained. "I've always been around UK and it does make me think about it, but I don't how will it play into my decision."
