Facing their fifth elimination game of the 2007 NCAA tournament, the University of Louisville did exactly what it had done in it's previous four outings and came away the winner on Sunday afternoon at the College World Series.

Continuing to have the hot bats, the Cardinals pounded out 18 hits against Mississippi State and continued their historic run by defeating the Bulldogs 12-4 and advancing to the College World Series semis.

Louisville scored in each of the first four innings, primarily by way of the home run ball. Eight of the Cardinals runs were plated by the power hitters.

Logan Johnson connected for his third homer of the College World Series to give the Cardinals a 2-0 first inning lead. Chris Dominguez went yard for the seventh and eighth times in the post-season, connecting for a solo shot in the second and a 2-run blast in the visitor's half of the 7th inning. Daniel Burton hit his first four-bagger of the season and his 9th of the year when he drove a 3-run shot over the center field wall in the fourth.

Cardinals starter Justin Marks threw 5 innings of shut out ball before a hit up the middle connected with his knee, forcing him to leave the game two batters and a home run later. Marks fanned five and allowed 4 hits during his time on the mound. Kyle Hollander gave up one run in 1.1 innings of work, with Skylar Meade tossing two innings of shutout ball, striking out three.

Louisville will take the field next on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. against North Carolina, with ESPN2 providing national television coverage.
