Greg Shaw still considering Louisville

Many recruiting analysts believe that Louisville's connection with Willie Williams make the Cardinals the team to beat for four-star offensive tackle Greg Shaw. Where does Louisville stand with the 6-foot-5, 277-pound Shaw?

Many recruiting analysts believe that Louisville's connection with Willie Williams makes the Cardinals the team to beat for four-star offensive tackle Greg Shaw.

Why? That's easy. Williams, a junior linebacker for Louisville, is Shaw's older brother.

While Louisville has the right connections with Shaw, the star lineman is taking nothing for granted when it comes to his recruitment. That means Louisville or any other program hoping to land Scout.com's No. 27-rated offensive tackle shouldn't, either.

With its connections because of Williams, Louisville remains a top contender for Shaw's services.

Shaw keeps in constant contact with Williams, who will compete for a starting position at linebacker this fall after transferring from Los Angeles C.C. When it's all said and done, Williams could prove the difference for Louisville in the race for Shaw's services.

"I talk to my brother all the time," Shaw said. "He's doing really good up there and he's very happy with his decision to play at Louisville. He tells me all the time that I need to come to the ‘Ville."

A first team All-State offensive lineman in 2006, Shaw holds nearly 30 scholarship offers, meaning Louisville faces some pretty stiff competition. Louisville, Florida, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, Georgia, LSU, South Florida and Central Florida comprise a lengthy list for Shaw. Shaw said he's not ready to name favorites or narrow his focus any further at present.

"The most important thing is education, but I also have to like the coaches, too," Shaw said.

Interestingly, Shaw singled out four coaching staff's, including Louisville's, that he feels the most comfortable around.

"I think it would have to be both Georgia schools, Louisville and Wisconsin," Shaw said.

What does Shaw like about the Louisville coaches?

"When I went up there on a visit with Willie I got to talk to all the coaches, including the offensive coordinator, and I really liked them all," Shaw said.

Shaw hasn't schedule any official visits, but has a few schools in mind that he'd like to see this fall before making his decision.

"I know I'm taking a visit to Florida and I think I'm going to visit Georgia Tech," Shaw said. "I might visit Georgia and my family and I are going up to watch some of Willie's games this season."

When does Shaw anticipate making his college decision?

"Whenever I'm really sure about where I want to go," Shaw said.
