Louisville is looking to beef up their secondary with a strong 2008 recruiting effort. One prospect that could help, Washington D.C. safety Gerald Moore, has the Cardinals high on his list of favorites.

"I just got an (offer) from Navy and I think Northwestern is getting pretty close to giving me an offer. I've been talking to the head coach and he's supposed to be calling me in the next couple days talking about official visits," Moore said. "And Louisville also – they're pretty close to offering."

Louisville assistant coach Greg Nord has been recruiting the versatile Moore, who plays on both sides of the ball at St. John's College HS.

Gerald Moore believes Louisville
will extend an offer his way soon.
"I talked to him last Friday," Moore said. "He asked me what official visits had I set up and then he was like ‘we plan on coming down to visit you by the end of our season and working on getting you up here for an official visit.'"

Moore has made 50 tackles and three interceptions on defense this season and has 10 receptions and seven touchdowns on offense. Moore, who has excellent closing speed and is a good open field tackler, helped lead his team to an 8-2 record and a first place league finish tied with Good Counsel and DeMatha.

"(Louisville) likes the way that I come downhill and attack the run and they like my versatility being able to play wide receiver and safety," said Moore, who sent his senior video tape to the Cardinals coaches last month. "I'm an athlete. Wherever they need me I'll play."

Moore currently has offers from Northwestern, Army, Eastern Michigan and Navy. Moore said he has high interest in the Cardinals and listed Louisville, along with N.C. State, North Carolina, Army and Northwestern in his Top 5.

"I'm very interested in (Louisville)," Moore said. "They are definitely in my Top 5. I went there on an unofficial visit this summer and I really liked it a lot. Me and my dad went to Eastern Michigan and Kentucky and while we were down there we went to Louisville. I had been getting a lot of mail from Louisville asking me to come up to some games last year but I never got a chance. So we finally got a chance to go up there and visit and talk to some of the coaches.

"I liked (U of L) a lot," Moore added. "They had a lot of new facilities. When I was there they were updating their weight-room. It felt like good surroundings."

Moore has one official visit set to Army on December 7. Moore said his official visits will play a big part in his ultimate college decision.

"It's where I feel most comfortable after my official visits," Moore said. "The coaching staff and just based on the school and academics are also important."
